Cebu Pacific's Seat Sale of Gratitude

Got this e-newsletter from Cebu Pacific.  Read on:

We posted over 50% market share in both domestic passenger and cargo markets for the first three months of 2010. Because of this, we are offering a 50% off seat sale for guests traveling to all our domestic and international destinations starting now until May 31, 2010. This is for travel from July 1 to September 30, 2010.

Based on Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) data, CEB flew 1.97 million guests during the first quarter, out of 3.89 million domestic air travelers. CAB data also showed that CEB cargo transported 20.49 million kilos, out of 38.50 million kilos in air cargo early this year.

This gives CEB 50.6% market share when it comes to domestic passengers, and 53.2% market share for cargo.

The sale includes seats to and from Osaka, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh, Kota Kinabalu, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Taipei, among other CEB international destinations.

Also up for grabs are seats to prime tourist destinations such as Boracay (Caticlan), Puerto Princesa (Palawan), Busuanga (Coron), Cebu, Bohol (Tagbilaran), Siargao, Dumaguete and Laoag. Inter-island flights for those visiting family and friends are also available, including Cebu-Clark, Cebu-Bacolod, Cebu-Iloilo, Davao-Zamboanga and Davao-Cagayan de Oro.

We would like to celebrate with our passengers, given the things we have achieved so far this year, and offer even lower fares than usual. So hurry, grab your 50% off seats at www.cebupacificair.com now!

Best FriDeal from Air Philippines

It's Friday once again, just a day before my birthday (yehey!).  Air Philippines is once again having its seat sale thru its FriDeal Promo Treat.

Fare for Manila to Cagayan de Oro flight costs P999 only.  Here's more! and this is what I'm excited about:  plane ticket for Manila to Puerto Princesa is priced at P599 only!  Hmmm... I miss El Nido.  Is this... a sign?

Well, fare for Manila to Bacolod is also on sale too.  Now, I am confused which of those mystifying places should I visit first!  As if my confusion was not enough, plane ticket for Manila to Kalibo is also on promo.  Isn't Kalibo already near Boracay?

I should decide now as this treat is good only until 8pm tonight.  By the way, P599 promo also covers destinations from Manila to:  Masbate and Iloilo.

Happy weekend and... happy birthday to me!

Air Philippines' Express Sale for the Nth Time

I could no longer count how many times Air Philippines has offered Express Sale.  This time, the four-day seat sale, which will end tomorrow, May 27, offers promo tickets for as low as P599 for those who plans to travel between August 1 to September 30, 2010.

Promo flights include Manila to:  Naga, Busuanga, and San Jose (Mindoro).  Speaking of Mindoro, I always wanted to go there.  FYI, somebody gave me a free accommodation for 3day-2nights at a local hotel (I forgot the name of the hotel.  It starts with the word Puerto).  Unfortunately, that promo is valid only until June 2010...

Anyway, the P599 promo rate also covers the following routes -  Cebu to: Iloilo, Bacolod, Tacloban, and Cagayan de Oro.  Of the aforementioned four destinations, Bacolod is where I haven't been to.  I wonder when will I have the chance to check out the place...

The Express Sale also offers P799 seat sale for Manila to Iloilo and Manila to Bacolod.  Hey, is this now my chance to find out for myself why Bacolod is dubbed as the city of smiles?  Hmmm... Let me check my schedule...

On the other hand, other flights on sale at a promo rate of P799 include the following - Manila to: Ormoc, Kalibo, Catarman, Calbayog, and Masbate.  Ticket for Busuanga to Puerto Princesa route is also on sale at the same rate.

I would like to reiterate, for emphasis, that this promo will last only until tomorrow, May 27.  Hence, visit the Air Philippines website now! :)

PAL's 5th Midnight Special

Once again, PAL will be having its Midnight Special for the 5th time tomorrow (Saturday) starting midnight up to 6am the following day (Sunday).  The details of the six-hour will be disclosed at the PAL website tomorrow at 3pm.

I wonder what will PAL be offering, this time.  Last week, its sale featured international and regional destinations.  Will the domestic flights be the next in line?  We'll find out... tomorrow! :)

Korea and Japan Flights Are Also On Sale!

P1,999 'Go Lite' seats are up for grabs for flights from Manila to Incheon, Cebu to Incheon and Pusan. Those going from Manila to Osaka can avail of P2,999 seats.  These fares are 50% less than the lowest possible year-round fares for Japan and Korea.

For those traveling out of Clark, P1,499 'Go Lite' seats are also offered on flights going to Bangkok, Macau, Hong Kong and Singapore. Clark-Cebu flights are also on sale with a 'Go Lite' seat sale of P499. Travel period is from July 1 to September 30, 2010.

Take this opportunity to explore our neighboring countries especially since there are a lot of activities in store for the budget traveler during the summer and fall seasons in Japan and Korea.

CEB now accepts web bookings up to four (4) hours before your scheduled time of departure. Hurry, grab your seats at www.cebupacificair.com!

Visit Malaysia For Only P999!

Cebu Pacific is slashing as much as 42% off the lowest year-round fares to their Malaysia destinations in a special seat sale which started yesterday, May 18, and ends until May 20, 2010. Up to 7,000 seats are up for grabs, for travel from July 1 to September 30, 2010.

The travel period is in time for the Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival starting July 24 until September 16, and many other vibrant international events for every Juan!

Another of Air Philippines' Express Sale

It seems Air Philippines' series of express sales are here to stay.  For good?  I don't know.  Only Air Philippines can answer that.

For the meantime, what we can do is just to enjoy grabbing rare opportunities like this, availing cheap fares as low as P199.  How's that?

As shown on the image on the left, routes on sale at a ticket price of P199 include Manila to:  Busuanga, Calbayog, Catarman, Masbate, Naga, Ormoc, Surigao, Tuguegarao, and San Jose (Mindoro).  If I'm not mistaken, among the mentioned routes, fare for Manila to Surigao route costs the highest (as much as P2,480) if bought on a regular rate.  That's almost 13 times the sale price!  Hence, I suggest, Surigaonons like me should... take action!

Other routes on P199 seat sale are those involving Visayas areas, particularly, from Cebu to:  Iloilo, Bacolod, Tacloban, and Cagayan de Oro.  Fare for Busuanga to Puerto Princesa route is also on sale at the same rate.

The following routes are also on sale at a rate of P399:  Manila to: Iloilo, Bacolod, Puerto Princesa and Cagayan de Oro.

This two-day seat sale will last until tomorrow, May 20, 2010.  But before you grab your mouse and/or dial 855-9000 and/or run to your nearest ticketing outlet, check your calendars first.  Will you be available on the covered travel period which is for next year yet, particularly, between January 15 to February 28, 2011?

Good luck!

PAL's 4th Midnight Special

Air Philippines Website Is No Longer In Trouble

It was almost 6pm when Air Philippines' website began to operate smoothly again.  It's Fri-deal Pre-weekend Promo Treat is already conspicuously displayed on its homepage.  Clicking the swinging ad on the rightmost portion of the page won't be necessary anymore.

Featured seat sale is for routes Manila-Cagayan and Cebu-Iloilo.  The fare costs P999 and P499, respectively.  As shown on the image on the left, regular ticket fare for year-round promo for Manila-Cagayan route is normally priced at P1,870.

Hurry up!  This Fri-deal Pre-Weekend Promo for this week will last only until 8pm today.  For details, please check the Air Philippines website or click this.

Air Philippines Website Is In Trouble

It's almost 6pm as of this writing but still, I could not figure out what's that Fri-deal Pre-Weekend Treat of Air Philippines is all about.  Their website, though accessible, is not showing any details about the promo (except for the ad on the rightmost part of the web page).  A blank window would appear every time that ad is clicked.

According to the customer service representative I talked to over the phone about 45minutes ago (which by the way, I waited for almost an hour before I was being accommodated), their website is currently undergoing troubleshooting.  Tsk!  Tsk!  Tsk!

This is disappointing!  Something must be done to improve their online service to make them competitive with other airlines.

Air Philippines' Fri-Deal Countdown

Few minutes from now, Air Philippines will be launching its Fri-Deal Pre-Weekend Treat.  I wonder what it will be in store for bargain travelers like me.  I even set my alarm clock just to make sure that I will be the first few ones to avail of the seat sale.  That is, if the seat sale would be lower than, if not the same as, that offered in its Mama's(yal) Day Special.

Care to join me?  For details about this promo, log in at Air Philippines website or click this.

Air Philippines' Express Sale!

Had it not for the text message I got (albeit delayed) from PAL Express, I would not have known that they are having another seat sale which will run for two days only, May 12-13, 2010.  If my memory serves me right, the ad was not printed on The Philippine Star (our office's official newspaper).  Or maybe, I was just too preoccupied with stuff while reading that I missed one of the very important airline ads.  I wonder if the seat sale was also advertised in other papers...

Anyway, those budget-conscious urbaniztas who were not able to make it in Boracay in time for the summer season may still have their chance.  For only P799, one will be able to fly to Kalibo from Manila between July 1 to August 31, 2010.  I'm not sure though if the weather will still be conducive for swimming, sun tanning, and people watching by that time. ;)

Other routes on sale are Cebu - Bacolod which fare costs P399 only.  The route Manila-Cagayan de Oro is also on a promo rate which is the same as Manila-Kalibo's.

Interested?  Please check Air Philippines' website.

Another of PAL's Midnight Special

Just when I thought PAL is through with its own seat sale, here's another Midnight Special that one should watch out for about an hour from now.  However, this only applies to international destinations.  Promo shall be limited only from midnight up to 6AM tomorrow.  Please visit PAL website for details including the rates or try to read the images as posted below:

For regional flights - fiesta (economy class):

Cebu Pacific's One INA Million Seat Sale

It looks like there is an undeclared war of seat sales between airline companies especially for tomorrow's celebration of Mother's Day. It was started by Air Philippines with it's Mama's(yal) Day Special. And now, Cebu Pacific is having its One INA Million Seat Sale.

I didn't see this ad in Cebu Pacific's website this morning. Hence, I was not able to blog this earlier.  I guess, just like with Air Philippines, this ad was published in the papers first before it was posted in their website.

Anyway, unlike Air Philippines' promo, Cebu Pacific's sale caters also to international destinations, particularly, neighboring Asian countries, or what Philippine Airlines termed as regional flights.  The rates, however, are not readily comparable as Philippine Airline's uses U.S. dollars as its currency rate of exchange.

On the other hand, domestic destinations on sale include, but not limited to, Manila to Palawan and vice versa (v.v.).  With this route, however, the promo rate of P699 has not even beaten, if not matched, Air Philippines' seat sale of P499.

In fairness to Cebu Pacific, there are destinations on sale that are not found at Air Philippine's promo.  This includes, but not limited to, Cebu to Butuan (v.v.) and Cebu to Surigao (v.v.).  With the promo rate of P499, my fellow Surigaonons in Surigao should not miss this chance if they have plans of going to Cebu during the promo's travel period.  If I'm not mistaken, ship's fare for the same route is priced as high as P800+.

Need to think it over?  Hurry up as the promo will end on May 11, or three days from now. :)

Few Hours More To Go!

Yes, it's few hours more before the promo of Air Philippines will finally begin!  I'm already excited!  I can hardly wait!  I am still contemplating whether to stay awake till the 12midnight strikes or just fall asleep and check it out in the morning.  Hmmm...

By the way, I checked the Air Philippines website at around 4pm today, and there!  The seat sale banner ad is already posted!  This is not just another "buy it from the newspaper" trick after all!  Hehehe

Of course, I do not doubt for the credibility of The Philippine Star.  I am even grateful that such ad was posted earlier than it was at the Air Philippines website.  FYI, I usually check the papers first before I get my hands working on the internet.

So now, shall we race as to who gets to avail first of the promo?  Take the challenge... now! :)

False Alarm!

I thought Air Philippines' Frideal Pre-Weekend Specials would start today, Friday, May 7.  I was wrong after all...

Who would not be?  The ad placed in the newspaper did not specify when the promo would start.  I assumed it would be launched today as the ad uses present tense type of verb (see my previous post).  But let's not argue with the grammar technicalities here...

I was clarified when I talked to Charles, the customer service representative, few minutes ago (after half hour of waiting while listening to the endless pre-recorded phone ad).  He was even confused at first.  But after checking (while putting my call on hold), he finally pointed out that the promo will start next week yet.

What???!  There I saw online the fine print that says "STARTING May 14, 2010".  Well, I got electrocuted, as they say.  Yay! :)

Air Philippines' Version of TGIF

I forgot to blog about the note posted on the leftmost part of the Air Philippines' Mama's Day promo print ad.

As shown on the image at the right side of this post, Air Philippines advised travelers to check the Air Philippines website every Friday at 4pm-8pm for more hot deal.  The promo is dubbed as FRIdeal Pre-Weekend Specials.

The curious cat in me prompted me to call Air Philippines at 855-9000 just this morning.  Unfortunately, the customer service representative (CSR) I talked to don't have any idea about the said Friday promo.

Further, the CSR explained that it is just a regular advisory, as if saying, there's nothing to look forward to as the promo is always available anytime.  When further asked on the difference between that Friday promo and Mama's Day promo, she finally admitted that she does not have the complete information yet.

Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!  Nonetheless, I guess everybody should just do his/her part.  That is, there's nothing to lose if one should just follow the advisory by checking the website at the time specified in the ad, which by the way is just a few hours from now...

Is May 11 a Non-Working Holiday?

Before anything else, I decided to post this topic under this blog because I believe non-working holidays is very much associated with this blog's title, vacation grande.  That is self-explanatory.  Don't you agree?

Anyway, back to my question, is May 11, a day after the May 10 elections, a non-working holiday in the Philippines?  As of this writing, there is no news, whether online, print, or tv, that May 11 had already been declared as a non-working holiday.  However, the Sunstar Network Online reported yesterday that "MalacaƱang cannot report as of Thursday if May 11 will be declared as holiday".

Accordingly, they have yet to receive a formal suggestion/proposal for extending the May 10 non-working holiday to another day, or a day after the elections.  Why wait for that "formal" suggestion/proposal?

In my opinion, declaring May 11 as a non-working holiday would be what GMA administration could give as its "last gift" to workers like me.  Non-wage benefits such as this would be greatly appreciated by the labor sector.

But of course, my opinion doesn't matter to all.  Who am I anyway?  Well, what I want right now, and I'm sure that is also the clamor of many, is that May 11 be simply declared as a non-working holiday. :)

Air Philippines' Mama's Day Special

Here's a promo which Cebu Pacific should be threatened about:  Air Philippines will be offering a P299/P499 seat sale to selected destinations!

I read the promo from The Philippine Star just this morning.  However, when I checked it from the Air Philippines website, the promo was not yet posted therein.  Hence, I resorted to have the newspaper ad scanned and voila!  Please check the image at the top.

Hey, not so fast!  Before you rush to your nearest ticketing outlet and/or browse the Air Philippines website, please read first the details shown on the image.  If you deem it unreadable, please continue reading this post as I will just rewrite some of the salient points of that ad, as follows:

  • Selling period will start tomorrow yet, May 8.  It will last until Mother's Day, May 9;
  • Travel period is between September 1 to November 30, 2010; and
  • Still includes 15kgs. free baggage allowance.
I just hope Cebu Pacific can match that promo so as to make the upcoming Mother's Day MORE memorable. :)
